The Kumano Kodo Nakahechi Museum is located near the Kumano Kodo's Konro Oji.

The Kumano Kodo Nakahechi Art Museum is the first art museum created by the internationally active architect duo Kazuyo Sejima + Ryue Nishizawa/SANAA.

It opened in 1998 and was designed with the idea of displaying works of art in a new space and creating a place for interaction through art.
The museum collects and exhibits works and materials related to local painters, including Japanese painter Banka Nonagase and southern painter Ryoun Watase, as well as related works and materials.

 

From July 8th to September 18th, 2023, Kumano Kodo Nakahechi Museum of Art will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the museum's opening by honoring Ryoun Watase (1904-80), a modern southern painter who has been honored as a painter associated with the museum since its opening. A special exhibition is being held to introduce the artist's painting career with a focus on its relationship with the Kinan region.

This is the Tanabe-shi Museum of Art.

The Tanabe-shi Museum of Art opened in 1996 in a corner of Shinjo General Park, located on a hill overlooking Tanabe Bay.

The core of the collection is Japanese literati paintings and modern paintings, which are introduced in museum collection exhibitions and small exhibitions.

In addition, special exhibitions are held every year related to works (artists) in the collection or works (artists) that are connected to the area.

 

From July 8 to September 18, 2023, the Tanabe-shi Museum of Art will be showcasing the diverse forms of expression that have emerged in various ways in response to the new international art trends that began to flow in after the war, through five chapters: "People and Figures," "Formless," "Woven Forms," "Ink Forms," and "2000s and Beyond."
