Toba-shiToba aquarium
Toba aquarium is a huge aquarium where you can meet many living creatures. The number of species kept in the aquarium is the largest in Japan at approximately 1,200 species. The aquarium has been in operation for 66 years. The aquarium is divided into 12 zones, and a major feature of the aquarium is that visitors can freely view the exhibits without worrying about the order of the zones. The aquarium keeps and exhibits sea and river creatures that live in various environments. In particular, this is the only aquarium in the world that keeps both the dugong, which is said to be the model for the mermaid legend, and the African manatee. Sea lion shows and walrus petting time are held daily. The museum's unique exhibits and entertaining shows teach visitors about the wonder and magnificence of living creatures.

Located on Pearl Road, which runs along the coast between Toba and Shima, Toba Observatory is situated on a hill 163 meters above sea level and is a great spot to watch the sunrise. On New Year's Day, it is crowded with people who want to see the first sunrise from the horizon. It is a superb spot from which to view the Rias coast and the horizon. There is also a store (CUBE BOX) and a snack corner (Haneyasume), and it is a driving spot where you can enjoy local delicacies such as Ouchiyama soft ice cream and Tobarger (local burger).

Toba-shiMikimoto Pearl Island
This is the island where Kokichi Mikimoto succeeded in culturing pearls for the first time in the world in 1893. Visitors can learn all about the jewel of the sea, the pearl, and Kokichi Mikimoto, who was called the Pearl King. The island is home to the Pearl Museum, Kokichi Mikimoto Memorial Hall, and Pearl Plaza (store and restaurant), as well as ama (women divers) dressed in traditional white beach clothes who demonstrate diving operations. The only place where visitors can see ama divers in action in the beautiful sea is at Mikimoto Pearl Island.
