An art project with local high school students launched, focusing on the charm of the area
- Notice from the hotel
A statue of our founder, Kumahachi Aburaya, dressed in a local design created by a young sensibility, welcomes you in the hotel lobby.
Kamenoi Hotel is gradually installing the Kumahachi statues, and has now started an art project in which local high school students are asked to use the brand new Kumahachi statues as canvases to paint them in colors that are representative of the area!
The "Kumahachi Statue" at Kamenoi Hotel Torawa is currently being painted by Mie Torawa High School Art Club, and will return to the hotel on Tuesday, July 15, 2025! Look forward to the local design drawn by this young sensibility.

Comment from the Toba High School Art Club
The artwork depicts the various creatures at the aquarium, such as sea otters, penguins, and dolphins, as well as the ships and sailors moored at Toba Port, and the local specialty pearls.
The jacket is a dark color so that the diverse colors can stand out.

Kamenoi Hotel aims to be an even more appealing "local inn filled with tradition and warmth" by adding the unique value of the region to the spirit of hospitality and innovation that has been passed down since the hotel's founding.
In this project, we hope that the "Kumahachi statues" in each area will become new symbols, providing an opportunity for customers visiting Kamenoi Hotels across the country to discover new charms, and that the hotels will also become more familiar to local residents as "their town hotel."
Please look forward to the art project at Kamenoi Hotel, which has inherited the "spirit of hospitality" from Aburaya Kumahachi!
