[Recommended tourist spot] Oigawa Railway
- sightseeing
[Recommended tourist spots]
The Oigawa Railway is famous for Thomas the Tank Engine, but we also recommend the Southern Alps Abt Line, which is the only Abt system section in Japan.
You will be surprised at how small and cute this train is compared to the trains you are used to seeing. This train runs slowly through the valley of Okuoi. Along the way, there are plenty of things to see, including the steepest gradient in Japan at 90 per mille, the highest railway bridge in Japan above the riverbed (Sekinosawa Bridge), and Okuoi Kojo Station, which appears to be floating on Lake Sesso.
The photo spot at Okuoikojo Station is about an 18-minute walk from the station, and although it can be a bit difficult due to the steep slopes, you can see a spectacular view.
