While Oigawa Railway is famous for its steam locomotive and electric locomotive express trains, we also recommend the Southern Alps Abt Line, which features Japan's only Abt rack railway section!
You'll be surprised by the small and cute appearance of this train compared to the trains you usually see. This train slowly travels through the Oku-Oi Valley. Along the way, there are plenty of sights to see, including Japan's steepest gradient at 90 per mille, Japan's highest railway bridge (Sekinosawa Bridge) above the riverbed, and Oku-Oi Lake Station, which appears to float on Lake Sesso.
Please note that the photo spot at Oku-Oi Lake Station is about an 18-minute walk from the station, and while it involves some steep slopes, you can enjoy a spectacular view.
