5th Imamiya Shrine
Do you know the shrines loved in Sakura-shi?
Imamiya Shrine was founded in 1060 during the reign of Emperor Go-Reizei.

It is also the only shrine in Tochigi dedicated to the twelve zodiac animals, and you can also see the charming stone sculptures of the zodiac animals.
It is said that by stroking a stone statue representing your birth year's zodiac sign while offering a prayer, you can receive lifelong protection!
While the "Hydrangea Flower Water Basin" in June is also recommended, this time I'd like to introduce the "Great Ginkgo Festival" held in autumn.
There is a magnificent ginkgo tree on the grounds of Imamiya Shrine.

The 'Great Grandchild Tree' has been selected not only as a Sakura-shi Designated Natural Monument but also as one of the '100 Best Trees in Tochigi,' and its age is an astonishing 700 years.
Every year, during the "Great Ginkgo Tree Festival," held around the second or third week of November, the "Great Ginkgo Tree" is illuminated at night.

In this enchanting space filled with music, you can take photos or enjoy the event from a distance while staying warm.
Also, different food trucks will be there each day during the event, so you can satisfy your hunger.

I love this place because I can have warm interactions with the staff.
Please do visit Imamiya Shrine in the autumn.
In the sixth installment, I plan to introduce my favorite shops.
Stay tuned for the next update!
