The 75th Suigo Itako Iris Festival is currently underway.

The 'Suigo Itako Ayame Festival' is being held from Friday, May 22nd at the 'Suigo Itako Iris Garden' within Itako-shi.

The venue, Suigo Itako Iris Garden, is about a 3-minute walk from JR Itako Station and about a 10-minute drive from the Itako Interchange on the Higashi-Kanto Expressway.

Suigo Itako Iris Garden

This is a historic festival that began in 1952, and was originally held by iris and Japanese iris lovers.

The event was held by placing cut irises and Japanese irises in beer bottles.

Approximately 1 million irises of 500 different varieties are planted in the park, and at the peak of their blooming season, they are in full bloom.

During this period, visitors can enjoy the Itako bride procession (bridal boat), boat tours, and illuminations throughout the park.

It takes about 15 minutes by car from the hotel to the venue.
