"Oarai Sun Beach Beach" is a natural sandy beach located in the town of Ibaraki Oarai. It is not a controlled clam hunting ground, but a beach with rich marine resources that naturally inhabits, and you can enjoy clam hunting for free.

Because it faces the open Pacific Ocean, it is characterized by the availability of oceanic shellfish such as clams and surf clams, rather than Manila clams or razor clams.
The best time to go is from mid-April to late June, with the period around low tide during spring tides being ideal.

The harvest limit is 1 kg per person per day, and there are rules regarding size and tools, so please check in advance.

Since it's a natural environment, there's no guarantee you'll catch anything, but it's a spot where you can easily enjoy yourself like you're playing in the water.

[Rules for clam digging]
*Clam digging is only permitted in the areas of the 1st and 2nd Sun Beaches (from the west breakwater to the Onuki area coastal pier).
*Do not collect juvenile shellfish (young shellfish).
(Clams: 3cm or less; flat clams: 3cm or less; surf clams: 7cm or less)
*Only rakes with handles less than 50cm long, claws less than 5cm long, and widths less than 20cm are permitted.
(The use of wire mesh, tools with nets, or hoes is prohibited.)
*The amount you are allowed to harvest is limited to 1 kg per person per day.
