Tohoku's Three Greatest Festivals: Aomori Nebuta Festival
The Aomori Nebuta Festival, one of the three major festivals in the Tohoku region, is held annually from August 2nd to 7th. It is said to have originated from the Tanabata Festival, which was introduced from China during the Nara period (710-794), and was designated an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan in 1980. The majestic, powerful, and artistically beautiful 15-20 Nebuta floats, each about 9m wide and 5m tall, parade around the area from Shinmachi near JR Aomori Station to the front of the city hall for about 3km. Thousands of "Haneto" (jumping people) dressed in traditional costumes dance around the floats to the rhythm of drums, flutes, and hand-held gongs, chanting "rasserah, rasserah," making the festival even more exciting. Anyone can participate as a haneto by wearing a haneto costume (formal attire) and gathering at the meeting point. Costumes are also available for rental, so don't just watch, but participate and enjoy the festival.

The Aomori Nebuta Festival is one of Japan's most famous festivals, with a history of over 400 years. The impressive nebuta floats and their detailed decorations will leave you mesmerized by their strength and bravery. On the final day, August 7th, about 20 large nebuta floats will parade from 1:00 p.m., and from 7:15 p.m., four large nebuta floats will parade through Aomori Port, bringing the festival to a close with 10,000 fireworks. Don't miss it!

Both the dinner and breakfast buffets had a wide variety of dishes and were all delicious. The fresh sashimi and scallops at dinner were especially delicious.
The room was spacious and the view of the sea was great! The room was clean and the service was good.
It was a very comfortable hotel. Hot springs, both indoor and outdoor, were spacious, and the alkaline springs were my favorite, and the temperature was just right for me. I also appreciated the large number of washing areas. I'd like to come again.

Goshogawara Tachineputa
This festival is held in the central area of Goshogawara every year from August 4th to 8th, where giant vertical nebuta over 20m tall parade through the streets of Goshogawara to the chant "Yattemare! Yattemare!". The "Goshogawara Tachineputa" conveys the style of the gigantic neputa from the end of the Meiji period, different from the fan neputa of Hirosaki City and the doll neputa of Aomori City. At the Tachineputa Museum, you can experience making goldfish nebuta and fans.

Hirosaki Neputa Festival
The brave and elegant "Hirosaki Neputa" that colors the hot summer nights is designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan. It is held every year from August 1st to 7th, and there are two types of Neputa, the fan-shaped "Ogi Neputa" and the doll-shaped "Kumi Neputa", and about 80 Neputa of various sizes are paraded through the castle town of Hirosaki to the shouts of "Yayado". The sight of the men pulling the large Neputa, up to 9 meters tall and weighing several tons, is very impressive.
