Famous confectionery Kanonji

Kanonji-shi has developed as a market since ancient times, and the place name Kanonji came to be known as such after Kobo Daishi donated a statue of Kannon to Jinguji Temple (now Kanonji) in the second year of the Daido era. The branding mark on the famous confectionery "Kanonji" comes from the shape of a coin on the "Kan'ei Tsūhō" coin, with the circle representing "smoothness" and the corners representing "simpleness and strength."
