The name Jukkoku Pass comes from the old provincial names of ten provinces: Izu, Suruga, Tōtōmi, Kai, Shinano, Sagami, Musashi, Kazusa, Shimousa, and Awa. Currently, Shizuoka, Yamanashi, Nagano, Kanagawa, Tokyo, Chiba. From the summit of Jukoku Pass on a clear day, you can see Mt. Fuji, the Southern Alps, Suruga Bay, as well as the Shonan Coast and the Miura Peninsula. On good days, you can sometimes see the Chiba Boso Peninsula. Jukoku Pass, at an elevation of 770 meters, is about 5 to 10 degrees cooler than the Atami-shi city center, making it an ideal 360-degree scenic spot for summer retreats.
