Nebuta, one of the three major festivals in Tohoku, is held from August 2nd to August 7th every year, and is said to have its origins in the Tanabata Festival, which was brought over from China during the Nara period (710-794). . The name "Nebuta (Nebuta)" comes from the folk vocabulary distribution and dialectology of the Tohoku region, Shinetsu region "Nenburi Nagashi", Kanto region "Nebuti Nagashi, Neboke Nagashi, Nemutta Nagashi", etc. It is thought that Nemuri was a corruption of ``Nebuta.''

Sannai Maruyama ruins

In 1992, remains of pit buildings from the early to mid-Jomon period, a large amount of pottery and stone tools, and graves for adults and children were excavated, along with archaeological sites spanning a wide range of Hokkaido, Aomori, Akita, and Iwate. In July 2021, it was certified as a "Jomon Ruins in Hokkaido and Northern Tohoku." It is a valuable historical site that shows the state of the village during the Jomon period.
