The 129th Mito Plum Festival
- sightseeing
Visit the Mito Plum Festival, which boasts over 120 years of history
The Mito Plum Festival, which brings color to Kairakuen, one of Japan's three most famous gardens, will be held again this year!
Approximately 100 varieties and 3,000 plum trees bloom with their delicate flowers, heralding the arrival of spring.
The event will take place from Tuesday, February 11th to Thursday, March 20th in 2025.
Each variety has a different flowering period - early, mid, or late - so one of their charms is that they can be enjoyed over a long period of time.
It takes about 30 minutes by car from our hotel to the venue, Kairakuen.
It's still chilly, but why not head to Mito's Plum Festival to get a taste of early spring?
