The beach is about 15 minutes by car from our hotel.

Taiji Whale Museum

Whale watching

Ki no Matsushima tour
This cruise tour takes you around "Kino Matsushima," the most scenic spot in southern Kii, which has over 130 islands spread out over a 17km perimeter of Katsuura Bay. The islands are all shaped like animals, such as Camel Rock, Lion Island, and the Crane Cave Island, making it popular with adults and children alike.
The tourist pier is approximately an 11-minute walk or 3-minute drive from the hotel.
If you disembark at the Taiji Kujirahama Park Pier, you can also go to the Taiji Whale Museum or Kujirahama Beach.

Katsuura Regional Wholesale Market
It is about a 13 minute walk or 3 minute drive from the hotel. It is one of Japan's leading tuna bases and has thehighest fresh tuna landings in Japan using longline fishing methods.

Kushimoto Underwater Park
This aquarium is about a 50-minute drive from our hotel and is recommended as a sightseeing stop for those coming from the Osaka area.
Designated in 1970, it is one of Japan's first underwater parks (now marine parks), and the 24m-long underwater tunnel is home to around 1,300 fish,including sharks, rays, and other large migratory fish. You can also see the ocean floor at a depth of 6.3m from the underwater observation tower 140m offshore, and if you board an underwater sightseeing boat, you can see the world's northernmost colony of table coral.

[World Heritage 20th Anniversary] Nachisan Night Walk & Lantern Festival
July 6th (Sat) and 7th (Sun) 2024
A special event, "Nachisan Night Walk & Lantern Festival", will be held to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the site's registration as a World Heritage Site.
The "Lantern Event" held in commemoration of the 15th anniversary has been upgraded to a new version, and for the first time, "Nighttime Opening of the World Heritage Site Fudarakusan-ji Temple" and "Bamboo Lantern Daimonzaka" will be held.
At the finale, all participants will raise their lanterns at the same time and watch as they dance in the night sky, creating a fantastical world.

Nachi Ogi Festival, one of Japan's three major fire festivals

This is the annual festival of Kumano Nachi Taisha Shrine,which has been designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property by the government. It is also known as the"Nachi Fire Festival" andis considered one of the three major fire festivals in Japan.
You can watch the Nachi Fan Festival from special viewing seats.
Special viewing seat tickets can be purchased exclusively for guests staying at accommodation facilities affiliated with the Nanki Katsuura Hot springs Ryokan Association (including our hotel) on Saturday, July 13th.

Shingu Fireworks Festival

Approximately 6,000 fireworks will be launched from the Kumano River riverbed near the World Heritage Site, Kumano Hayatama Taisha Shrine, about a 25-minute drive from the hotel.
