Yonbancho Square, which was reborn in 2005, has buildings with a unified modern appearance, gas lamps installed in the square,

It is a city full of new and nostalgic encounters, such as monuments placed here and there.

Its roots date back to 1923 when Hikone Town's public market was established here.

​The town name ``Yonbancho'' is a name that was formed by the merger of ``Shirakabe machi, Uchidaiku machi, and Tera machi'', which had been in existence since the Edo period.

In the town, there are Japanese sweets shops unique to the castle town, Shiga's representative local dish ``funazushi'', and a traditional fresh fish shop that sells fish from Lake Biwa.

There are over 40 stores, including shops selling goods of the popular mascot character Hikonyan, souvenirs unique to Hikone and Omi, and restaurants serving Omi beef.

Yobancho Square is closed to vehicles all day long and there are no steps, so you can enjoy shopping, Food, and strolling with peace of mind.

On the 1st floor, there is "Yonbancho Dining" where you can find souvenirs such as Omi beef that is unique to Hikone, fish from Lake Biwa, local sake, and sweets.

"Sainakan" sells local Omi rice and local vegetables,

On the 2nd floor, there is a ``Character World'' centered on Hikonyan goods.
