Water crowfoot light-up

*Location: Around Jizogawa River in Samegai, Maibara City (10-minute walk from JR Samegai Station)

The clear waters of the Jizo River are famous for the delicate aquatic flower called "Baikamo," which resembles plum blossoms.

Baikamo is a freshwater plant belonging to the Ranunculaceae family. Small flowers begin to emerge from the water's surface in mid-May, and the number of flowers increases as summer approaches.

The charming streetscape of Samegai-juku, the 61st post town on the Nakasendo road, and the gentle murmur of the Jizo River.

And with its lovely water crowfoot, Samegai has recently become a popular spot for relaxation and enjoyment, attracting many visitors.

Water crowfoot (Ranunculaceae family): A perennial aquatic plant that grows in clusters in clean water where the water temperature remains around 14°C throughout the year.

It bears small flowers resembling plum blossoms from mid-May to around September.

The best time to see them is from late July (around the end of the rainy season) to late August.
