Kitakyushu-shi has a history of thriving as the gateway to the Kyushu region and a key transportation hub, and is the second most populous city in Kyushu. One of its charms is its retro architecture and beautiful urban scenery that give a sense of its history.
In addition, Kitakyushu-shi has many scenic spots and attractions, so we will introduce you to some popular tourist spots and gourmet food that you should visit to enjoy the city to the fullest.
Day 1
Day. 110:00 Arrive at Kokura Station
Kokura Station is the central station of Kitakyushu and serves as the gateway to Kyushu.
Let's start a two-day, one-night trip around retro streets that exude history.
10:30 Feel the history at Kokura Castle and Kokura Castle Garden
Kokura Castle is a historic castle located in Kokurakita Ward Kitakyushu-shi, and was established in 1602.
It took seven years for Tadaoki Hosokawa to build the castle.
The fifth floor is more prominent than the fourth floor, in a style of architecture called "Karazukuri."
A unique feature of the castle is that it offers a panoramic view of the surrounding cityscape and night view.
The "Kokura Castle Military Corps," featuring military commanders with ties to the Kokura Domain, is also popular. The "Cherry Blossom Festival" in spring and the "Castle Festival" in autumn are popular with many tourists.

Tanga Market is a mecca for gourmet food, where Kokura's gourmet foods are gathered.
Known as the kitchen of Kitakyushu, Tanga Market has its origins in the Taisho era and has a charming retro atmosphere.
Ogura kamaboko and Tanga udon noodles, etc.

14:00 Enjoy a relaxing time at the Former Yasukawa Residence
The former Yasukawa residence is a designated tangible cultural property Kitakyushu-shi, surrounded by greenery. The residence where Keiichiro Yasukawa, one of the "Chikuho Gosanke" (three great families of Chikuho), and his family lived for three generations since the Meiji period is open to the public. At the attached Japanese tea cafe, "Salon du JAPON MAEDA," you can enjoy tea in a superb space while feeling the design that remains unchanged since the time of construction.

15:30 Enjoy a cruise and a retro townscape
Wakato Bridge was designated as a nationally important cultural property in February 2022 and is beloved by local residents as a symbol of both Wakamatsu and Tobata districts.
Wakato Ferry is a convenient cruise that can be enjoyed for just 100 yen.
Enjoy a three-minute cruise on a ferry that perfectly matches the retro atmosphere of Wakamatsu Beach.
Additionally, Wakamatsu Kaigan-dori Street in Wakamatsu Ward is home to many modern buildings from the Meiji and Taisho periods, and its retro streetscape is extremely popular on social media.
Some buildings even have hidden cafes and popular bakeries as tenants.
Why not take a stroll around the area and take photos of the movie-like townscape?

For dinner, enjoy a kaiseki meal where you can savor fugu, the king of winter delicacies, to your heart's content.
You can enjoy the full charm of fugu in a variety of cooking methods, such as tessa (fugu sashimi) with its delicate flavor, fried fugu that is crispy on the outside and plump on the inside, and fugu chirinabe, which melts with flavor.
Food experience takes place in a restaurant with a panoramic view of Genkainada. The large windows offer a magnificent view of the sea and sky, further enhancing the flavor of the food. Enjoy a luxurious winter experience in a superb location.

8:00 Enjoy the refreshing view and breakfast
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast while looking out at the refreshing ocean view from the second floor observation restaurant.
Our recommendation is seafood, of course! We offer sesame Hirasu, sea bream tororo (celebratory rice), and a wide variety of grilled fish.
We also recommend the Fukuoka local dish "gameni" and "yaki curry," which is said to have originated in a coffee shop in Mojiko.

10:00 Check out ~ Head to Natsuigahama Hamayu Park
Natsuigahama Hamayu Park is a scenic spot adjacent to Natsuigahama Beach, where white crinum flowers bloom in the summer. This place with its beautiful coastline is a scenic spot that symbolizes Ashiya Town and is also known as a "sacred place for lovers." The "Echoing Love Bell" in the observation area is said to bring happiness when rung. If you look closely at your feet, you will find a heart-shaped paving stone hidden there, so one of the fun things to do is to look for it.

11:30 Lunch at "ottimo"
This baked goods cafe was renovated from a building known as the "house" that was once home to soldiers from a U.S. military base.
For lunch, you can enjoy hearty, juicy hamburgers and loco moco filled with vegetables.
Their proudly adorable baked goods lined up on the counter make perfect souvenirs.

13:00 Sarakurayama Observatory
Sarakurayama is so famous for its night view that it has been selected as one of the "New Top Three Night Views of Japan."
The panoramic view from the observation deck at the summit, 622m above sea level, which can be reached by taking a cable car and a slope car, is so vast that it will impress anyone, even during the day!
The contrast between the blue sky and the sea is beautiful, and on clear days you can see all the way to the Kanmon Straits and the distant mountains.

16:00 Let's buy some souvenirs to take home
At the end of your trip, look for souvenirs at Kokura Station. There are many local products unique to Kitakyushu, such as mentaiko and local sweets. Take home gifts for your family and friends along with memories of your trip.

Hibikinada Green Park
With the theme of "water, greenery, and interaction with animals," this is the city's largest park, with a vast 4-hectare lawn, a tropical ecological garden, a pony field, and cycling courses. The highlight is the rose garden, which boasts 2,700 rose bushes of approximately 450 species. The ``World's Longest Swing,'' certified by Guinness World Records, has seating for 100 people and offers 100 different views. There are many animals kept in the park, including ponies, kangaroos, wallabies, and capybaras, so you can enjoy interacting with them.

Tanaka Farm
Tanaka Farm, which is only open from April to November every year, is popular for its original soft-serve ice cream made by mixing freshly harvested and frozen fruit with vanilla ice cream. You can fully enjoy the freshness of freshly picked fruit. In addition to sweet strawberry and blueberry flavors, you can't miss the limited-time purple sweet potato, pumpkin, and watermelon flavors.

Tomato picking Nature
The "Wakamatsu tomatoes" harvested at the tomato picking Nature, which is open every year from early March to late June, are sweet and rich, like fruit.
These tomatoes are now on sale at our hotel shop and have become so popular that they are selling out quickly.
You can also experience tomato picking at Nature, located very close to the hotel.
