Recommended tourist spot [Sakuramichi]

​🌸Sakuramichi is at its best in spring

Kumamoto Aso Takamori Town, Aso A new famous place for cherry blossoms at the foot of Mt. Nekodake "Sakuramichi".

​Approximately 400 weeping cherry trees bloom along the approximately 2km road leading to Mt. Nekodake and the outer rim of the mountain.

In spring, the road is enveloped in soft pink cherry blossoms, creating a truly spectacular view.

We recommend taking a drive or taking a leisurely walk to enjoy the area.

The scenery is so beautiful you'll want to take a photo of it.

The best time to see the flowers is usually early April.

🌸 The origins of "Sakuramichi"

The background to the creation of this row of cherry blossom trees was the impact of the Kumamoto earthquakes in 2016 and the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

As the landscaping industry suffered great damage from the earthquake, the creation of Sakuramichi began with the desire to "do something for the local community and its people."

Furthermore, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the weeping cherry trees that were scheduled to be shipped were canceled.

Approximately 3,000 cherry trees that were scheduled to be discarded have been planted along the road at the foot of Mt. Neko in Takamori Town.

We are currently increasing the number of cherry trees little by little each year, cultivating a row of cherry trees that will continue into the future.

Mt. Neko towers beautifully at the end of the road.

The weeping cherry blossoms that adorn the foreground are a special sight that can only be seen in spring.
