Let's walk the world heritage site "Kumano Kodo"

Kumano Kodo is the general name for the pilgrimage routes that have been used for "Kumano pilgrimages" since the Heian period. While many of these routes have now been lost, Daimonzaka is known for retaining a strong resemblance to the original. The moss-covered stone steps that stretch for about 640 meters and the lush trees add color to the tranquil space. In 2004, it was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range," and many pilgrims come from all over the country. The "Heian costume experience," where you can stroll along the Kumano Kodo while dressed in costumes that recreate the style of the time, is also popular.

The Kumano area has long been known as a sacred place, and is dotted with many shrines and temples.
Kumano Nachi Taisha Shrine, which flourished as the center of Kumano faith and has attracted many people to its worship since ancient times, and Nachisan Seiganto-ji Temple, a World Heritage Site that retains the characteristics of the Momoyama period, have been selected as World Heritage Sites in the "Places to Visit" category of "The World's Greatest Places 2025" published by TIME, a leading American media outlet.

Nachi Falls, one of Japan's three most famous waterfalls and boasting the highest drop in the country at 133 meters, is also a must-see.
Nachikatsuura is a spot that is attracting attention from around the world.

Currently, there are two "roads" registered as World Heritage Sites: the "Kumano Kodo" and the "Camino de Santiago" in Spain, both of which are known as "pilgrimage routes" with a history of over 1,000 years. Both routes are several hundred kilometers long, and people who complete the pilgrimage on these two routes are called "pilgrims of the two routes."
The area around the hotel is dotted with historical tourist spots, including the Kumano Kodo trail, Nachi Falls, one of Japan's three most famous waterfalls, Kumano Nachi Taisha Shrine, and Nachisan Seiganto-ji Temple, as well as World Heritage sites and important national cultural properties. You can enjoy your stay in Nachikatsuura while immersed in history.
The hotel is easily Access, about 30 minutes by bus from JR Kii-Katsuura Station, the station closest to the hotel.
Please come to Nachikatsuura to experience its world heritage sites and history, and also enjoy the extremely fresh raw tuna in Nachikatsuura, one of Japan's leading landing bases for raw tuna.

I used it for sightseeing on the Kumano Kodo.
I looked for an inn that was close to Kii-Katsuura Station, where I could take Hot springs, see the ocean from my room, and have a good breakfast (not a buffet).
I am satisfied that I was able to choose a good accommodation based on my actual experience.

With good Access to Kumano Kodo and Nachi Falls, it is the perfect location for touring Kumano Kodo.
If your body is tired from hiking, you can rejuvenate in the large Hot springs spring bath and the cold outdoor bath.
All the staff were always smiling and helpful, and I was able to spend a very comfortable time during my stay.
thank you very much.
I will stay here again the next time I visit Kumano Kodo.

I stayed here to visit Nachi Falls and Kumano Kodo. It was conveniently located a few kilometers from the Daimonzaka parking lot. From my room, I could see Nachi Falls in the distance, and using binoculars I could see that the upper part of the waterfall was divided into three parts. Food was delicious both morning and evening. I found the lobster tempura to be more delicious than the sashimi. Hot springs bath in the room was also nice. The hotel seemed to be fully booked, but when I went to the public bath after 3:00 pm, it was reserved for private use, so I was able to enjoy it at my leisure. The veteran employees had a very good customer service attitude, and overall I was satisfied with the accommodation.
About a 10-minute walk from the hotel, we arrived at the Nigiwai Market at the port, which was the only place that was busy. There was a footbath next to the lively market, but it was a bit lukewarm.
If I have the opportunity, I would like to stay at this hotel again.
