A local Kumahachi statue painted by local high school students has been unveiled!

A statue of our founder, Kumahachi Aburaya, dressed in a local design created by a young sensibility, welcomes you in the hotel lobby.

KAMENOI HOTEL nationwide are working as an "art project" to have local high school students paint the brand new "Kumahachi Statue" on canvas in colors typical of the region.

The KAMENOI HOTEL KII-TANABE statue of Kumahachi was designed and painted by the art department of Wakayama Tachitanabe High School, and returned to the hotel on July 5, 2025. Please see the details of the local design "Kumahachi statue" drawn by a young sensibility.

Wakayama Tachitanabe High School Art Department Comment

It is inspired by the citrus fruits of Wakayama, which boasts the highest production volume.
In Kinan, south of Arita, domestic citrus fruits are sold at direct sales outlets all year round, and when we think of Kinan, we get the idea from mandarin oranges.

I colored it with the motif of the region, and I realized the charm of Wakayama and Tanabe-shi again. By incorporating tangerines, plums, and the Benkei family crest, it became an opportunity to reaffirm the local culture and take pride in it. It was a very fresh experience because it was an activity that I don't usually work on.

KAMENOI HOTEL aims to be an even more appealing "local inn filled with tradition and warmth" by adding the unique value of the area to the spirit of hospitality and innovation that has been passed down since Kumahachi Aburaya 's founding.

In this project, the "Kumahachi statue" in each region will become a new symbol, and it will be an opportunity for customers visiting KAMENOI HOTEL nationwide to discover new charms, and we will aim to deepen the familiarity of the local people as a "hotel in our town".
