[History of the Atami Marine Fireworks Festival]
The Atami Marine Fireworks Festival, a seasonal feature of Atami, has been held since 1952 (Showa 27) and will celebrate its 73rd year in the summer of 2024 (Reiwa 6).
This is an Atami specialty that is held more than 10 times throughout the year, not just in the summer.
The venue, Atami Bay, is surrounded by mountains on three sides and has a bowl-shaped topography, so the sound of the fireworks reverberating over the sea creates an acoustic effect similar to that of a large stadium. This is a highly praised fireworks launching venue, even by fireworks companies!
The fireworks spreading across the night sky, the fireworks reflected on the water, and the spectacular "Aerial Niagara" finale are so beautiful you'll forget you can blink.
